Mrs. Owens was born November 5, 1906 in Mitchell County, Texas. She received her education in Loraine, Texas and on March 19, 1922 she was married to Acie Owens at Thermer, Texas. He died June 1, 1968. She moved from Texas to California in 1941 and came to Forest Grove in 1948. She worked for Portland Canning for several years until it closed. For the past five years she had worked for Sunset Packing Co. on occasion.
Surviving are sons Elbert of Cornelius, William of Forest Grove, Russell of Portland and Jerry of Glenwood; daughters Marie Day of Forest Grove, Maxine Taylor of San Jose, California, Odell Muir of Portland, Peggy Long of Hillsboro, Darlene Duyck of Roy and Brenda Butler of Hillsboro; brothers R. H. Seymour of California, W. L. Seymour, W.K. Seymour, Jack hall, James E. Hall, all of Texas; sisters Kirene Stringfellow and Addie Lewellan of Texas and Lucille Engstrom of California; 33 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
