Eual Hill
1920 - 2007

Cherished father, grandfather, and longtime Idabel businessman and rancher Eual Edgar Hill, 87, passed away on Oct. 23, 2007, at McCurtain Memorial Hospital.

Eual was born May 9, 1920, to Charles Shepherd and Ada McBryde Hill in Idabel. Eual married his wife of 60 years, Tressie Lacy Hill, on Nov. 28, 1942, in Houston, Texas, and they lived in the Cisco commu-nity for their entire lives.
Eual was preceded in death by his wife, Tressie; his parents, Charles and Ada Hill; and his brothers, George, Carl, and Raphael Hill.

He is survived, loved, and missed by his son, Charlie Hill of Idabel; his granddaughters, Mindi Baxter of Waskom, Texas, and Tiffany and husband Chris Ramsey of Edmond; and his great grandchildren, Halley and Caleb Baxter of Waskom, Texas.

Eual graduated from Gray High School in 1938. He entered the Army in July 1942 and served until September 1945 in Italy, North Africa, and France. After his military service he returned to Idabel and the Cisco community and began farming. In the early fifties, he worked for the Dunlap Department Store. After a few years, he bought out Dunlaps and it became S&H Department Store which he continued to operate for fifty years. Eual retired and closed down S&H in late 2006. After retiring, Eual enjoyed spending time with his family, attending bank meetings, mowing the lawn, watching old Westerns, and telling his war and early farming stories.

Eual was one of the organizers of the McCurtain County Na-tional Bank and served as a Di-rector until he passed away. He was a fifty year Mason, a mem-ber of the Chamber of Commerce where he served on many com-mittees, and a lifetime member of the American Legion.

Visitation at the Norwood Fu-neral Home will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Services for his funeral will be at 2 p.m. at the Bypass Church of Christ on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007. Officiating the funeral will be Dick Logan, relative of the family. Eual will be buried at the Forest Hill Cemetery.
