Mary Christine Coburn LaBorde, 95, ended her earthly sojourn on Tuesday, March 8, 2022.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 14, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Broadmoor Baptist Memorial Chapel, 4110 Youree Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana. Dr. Tom Harrison will officiate. A graveside service will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Avenue. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, Louisiana.

Christine was born October 16, 1926, on her family farm in Grant Parish, Louisiana, and was the youngest of six children. She attended school in Georgetown, Louisiana, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Immediately after graduation in 1943, she went to work for the U.S. Government at Camp Livingston. In 1945 she met Oscar Charles LaBorde, Jr., who had recently returned from action in the South Pacific. After a six-week courtship they were married at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Alexandria, Louisiana. The two remained inseparable for the next 67 years, until Oscar's passing in 2012.

After the war, Oscar and Christine moved to Shreveport. In 1953 they started Continental Engine Sales and Service. Continental Engine grew into several local businesses, which continue today. Christine loved to be around her sons at the business, continuing to work into her 90's.

Christine was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church for over 60 years, a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Daughters of the Nile, and the Ladies Oriental Shrine. She loved to cook and for decades hosted 'Sunday lunch' for family members, friends, and relatives. She always enjoyed bringing food to sick friends and those in need.

She was proud of her business accomplishments but was most proud of her family. Christine and Oscar had seven sons: Kirby Wayne LaBorde, Michael Gary LaBorde, Robert Lynn LaBorde, Larry Wayne LaBorde, Charles Richard LaBorde, Jonathan Christopher LaBorde and James Peyton LaBorde. She nursed her children through broken limbs, surgeries, cuts and contusions, planned birthday parties and attended their graduations; she was there for them all. She encouraged her children in their education and expected a proper work ethic.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Luther Coburn and Rosa Hattie Barton Coburn; two of her sons, Kirby Wayne LaBorde and Michael Gary LaBorde; and her husband, Oscar Charles LaBorde, Jr.
