He was born July 30, 1944 in Sioux City, Iowa to Ray and Esther Harrigfeld. Jim graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1962 and attended college at Lincoln, Neb. and Berkley, Calif. He joined the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam.
Jim married Mariann Schwartzinger on March 11, 1979 in Garfield, N.J. They lived in Paramus, N.J. for several years where he founded his business Harmonic Research. In 1989 he moved his family and business to Woodstock, N.Y. Jim and his wife purchased and restored the Colony Cafe and Hotel in Woodstock, which they operated with the help of their children.
His greatest joys in life were his family and friends, his music and the arts. He loved to golf and travel.
Survivors include his loving family, wife Mariann, son Jefffrey and daughter Jessica of Woodstock, New York, a brother and his wife, Ernest and Paula Harrigfeld of Jackson, Neb., a sister and her husband, Janice and Lou Hansen of Sioux City, Iowa and seven nieces and nephews who adored him.
His mother and father preceded him in death. He was cremated in Woodstock, New York. A family prayer service and celebration of his life were held on Sunday, January 30, in Sioux City, Iowa
