Wilber E. Chase, 85, of Lake City died Saturday, December 10, 1977 at Stewart Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Huffman Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ted Dodd officiating. Burial was in the Lake City Cemetery under the direction of the Huffman Memorial Chapel.

Wilber Edward Chase, son of George and Susan Chase, was born on August 7, 1892 in Ralston, Greene county (part of the town is in Carroll Co.). He was married to Ella Irene Butolph in Lake City. They have been residents of Lake City for 20 years. He was a retired farmer.

Surviving are his wife, Ella, of Lake City; two daughters, Mrs. George (Ramona) Matheny of Lytton and Mrs. Charles (JoAnn) Piper of Loveland, Colorado and four grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Harry Madson of Fort Dodge and Mrs. Mabel Frances of Ida Grove and a brother, Charles Chase of California. Casket bearers were Jess Picht, Maurice Allstot, Harry Moyers, Robert Allen, St., Harold Janssen and Melvin Campbell.
