Mrs. Wesley Cross.
The funeral of Mrs. Sadie Cross, wife of Wesley Cross, was held at the Christian church at Putnam yesterday forenoon at 10 o'clock. Rev. William Brooks, pastor, officiating. Interment at Toulon.
For some years Mr. and Mrs. Cross, who were married at Derby, Iowa, have lived at Walnut Grove, near Putnam, for some years, his occupation being fishing and hunting. The wife had been afflicted with internal cancer for a long time and was a great sufferer. She died on Monday, June 5, 1911, death coming as a relief. Her age was 50 years, 5 months and 27 days. [She appeared as infant in 1860 US Census at Union, Lucas County, Iowa.]
She had been a member of the Christian church for 25 years.
She is survived by her husband and five daughters, namely, Mrs. Lou O'Kane of Kewanee; Mrs. Oliver [Pearl] Foglesong, Durant, Iowa; Mrs. Madge Staley, Shipley, Iowa; Mrs. Zora Shoreen, Chicago; Mrs. Cora Gray, Toulon.
Undertaker Smith had charge of the funeral, but did not accompany the remains to Toulon.
Mrs. Cross was a good wife, mother, neighbor and friend, and the sympathy of the community goes out to the bereaved family and friends.
