BIO and DNA RELATIONSHIP...................

John "Jack" King is the son of Harbert King, Sr. and Mary "Polly" Owsley. He was born in Lincoln County, Kentucky c. 1816. His death date and location are unknown. He was last recorded in the 1870 Lincoln County, Kentucky census. He claimed to be 54 years old and a Photographer as occupation.

Jack joined the Confederate Army during the Civil War. Co. B., 6 th Kentucky Regiment,. He was captured near Buffington Island in Ohio. On 7/19/1863 he taken as a Prisoner of War. 1st to Camp Morton in Indianapolis, then received on August 22, 1863 at Camp Douglas, Illinois.
He was released on March 24, 1865 after swearing allegiance to the United States of America. The following physical features were recorded: Dark Complexion, Mixed Hair, Black Eyes, 5 ft 11 3/4 inches in Height.

Gravesite Details

In a documented letter to brother Wm. Mason King dated 5/27/1882, Mrs Vina Whitehead states, "... Jack is dead also. He died at Crab Orchard." Secondly, found in the research of Anne Burnside Brown, Genealogist from Lancaster, Kentucky, 7/30/1960.
