Here rest the remains of
DOCTOR ALFRED T. MAGILL,
late Professor of Medicine
in the University of Virginia.
Distinguished in his profession
for his learning, his talents and his sagacity;
and as a man for his
bland and gentle manners,
his unpretending modesty,
his unbending integrity,
and his sincere but unostentatious piety.
He won the esteem of all good men,
the warm attachment of his friends
and the devoted affections
of his bereaved and afflicted family.
He died without an enemy,
surrounded by friends and regretted by all,
on the 12th of June, 1837.
Born December 10th, 1804.
Aged 33 years.
