He was the son of Phillip and Mary Jones amd came to Kansas with his parents as Pioneers. He had lived in Arkansas City for 70 years.
Mr. Jones made the run in the Cherokee Strip opening in 1893 and took a lot near Newkirk, but later sold it.
He was married to Alice M. Wooldridge, May 14, 1891. They were the parents of eight children. One daughter died at the age of three. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. P. P. Gaines, Mrs. T.O. McClaskey, Mrs. J.E. Crane: four sons, Cedric W., Harold O. and A. Myrl Jones and Kenneth C. Jones. One brother also survives. He is Clyde Jones, Glendale, Cal.
A member of the First Methodist Church for 60 years. Mr. Jones was a faithful attendant until his health prevented. Mrs. Jones was unable to attend the funeral for her husband due to her ill health.
