WILSON -- Funeral services for longtime Wilson resident Myrtle E. Shores, 92, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church. Rev. Darel Bunch will officiate with interment following at Hewitt Cemetery.
Born June 20, 1906, in Spanish Fort, Texas, to the late Oley E. and Lucy Jane "Harmon" Beck, she died in Ardmore, Dec. 22, 1998.
She came to Wilson from Texas as a young girl. In 1922 she married Alford O. Shores and they made their home in Wilson where they raised their family of boys. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Wilson. Mr. Shores preceded her in death Dec. 8, 1971. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Dave and Pauline Shores, J.W. "Pee Wee" and Norma Shores, and Jack and Robbie Shores, all of Wilson; two brothers, Asa Beck, Nocona, Texas, and Dwight Beck, Ventura, Calif.; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be grandsons David, Jackie, and Rex Shores, Tony Schler, Wayne Kennedy and Mike Thompson.
