Karey Lynn Dawkins Warren, "Gussy", 62, of Newton passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem.

She was born August 11, 1959 in Columbia, SC to the late William M. Dawkins and Jewel Prince Dawkins.

Gussy attended Fort Mill High School and Winthrop University. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover and the Rotary Club of Newton Conover. Gussy served on the ECCCM Board of Directors and performed mission work with Lutheran Disaster Response.

Gussy was preceded in death by her parents William and Jewel Prince Dawkins.

Those left to cherish her memory are;

Her husband of 36 years: Dexter D. Warren of the home

Brothers: William M. Dawkins and wife Elaine of FL
Alan D. Dawkins and wife Amy of SC
Benjamin I. Dawkins and wife Mandy of SC

Brother-In-Law and Sister-In-Law: Alex and Criss Ervin of Newton

Nephews: Garrett W. Dawkins, Josh Ervin (Jen), Gabe Ervin (Allyson) and Quint Ervin (Melissa)

Nieces: Marian Carns, and Jennifer Broome

Great-Nephews and Nieces: William Carns, Delaney Carns, Warren Carns, Ada Ervin, Ollie Ervin, Vance Ervin, Gigi Ervin, Eli Ervin and Ivey Ervin

A memorial service to celebrate Gussy's life will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover. Rev. Michael Geml will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Eastview Cemetery in Newton.
