Jerry was a Washington County native, the son of the late Curtis Curry and the late Mary Ellen Hyatt Curry. He was a member of the Washington County High School class of 1963, where he discovered his love of machinery while in Mr. Robert Young's industrial arts class. Following high school, Jerry attended Trinidad State College in Colorado where he graduated as a machinist and a gunsmith. Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country during Vietnam as an instructor with the U.S. Army School Europe in Germany. After military service, Jerry returned to Washington County and began a career as a machinist working for American Industrial Clay Company and Georgia Kaolin. Following work in the kaolin Industry, Jerry worked as an instructor for Oconee Fall Line College as well as working for himself as a gunsmith and a machinist. He was reared in the Bay Springs Methodist Church in Oconee and was a current member of the Piney Mount UMC in Tennille. In addition to his parents, Jerry is predeceased by his daughter, Lisa Caryn Curry.
