Greta Simone Alain passed away peacefully at the age of 90 at her daughter's home on February 26, 2022, while surrounded by her loving family, after a brief but courageous journey with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

Greta was born on January 11, 1932, in Richford, VT to Oliver Bean and Abbie Jane (Domina) Bean and was the youngest of 10 children.

She enjoyed growing up on a farm, and would share stories about the animals they raised, the vegetables that they grew and how special her family was to her. She relocated to Connecticut where she met and married the late Anthony Simone. They built a life and business together founding the Simone Corporation, which shaped many residential communities in Danbury. Through her love of ballroom dancing, she met and married her second husband, Claude Alain, and they enjoyed many years of antiquing through small towns in Vermont.

Greta was a real estate agent and office manager but her most gratifying job was working as a CNA at the School Sisters of Notre Dame, where she diligently tended to the nuns in her care. She also pursued a lifelong career of volunteerism at Danbury Hospital and with the American Cancer Society. A devout Catholic she actively engaged with the Divine Mercy Prayer Group and was a steward of the church.

Greta enjoyed perennial gardening, bird watching and was an avid fan of the UCONN Women Huskies Basketball team. She was a true animal lover; her German Shepherd, Mazie, and Golden Retriever, Bodhi, were her constant companions.

Her favorite activity was spending time with her grandchildren, especially as their biggest cheerleader during their sporting events. She had the unique opportunity of watching Anthony and David advance their coaching careers taking pride in cheering on their teams and celebrating their successes.

She is survived by her two loving children, step-son and his wife; her cherished five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson. Known as Mimi to the children in her life, she showered them all with love and affection. She found joy and solace in the relationships she had with her nieces and nephews.

In addition to both of her late husbands, she is predeceased by her 9 brothers and sisters.

Those who knew Greta, knew how generous she was with her time and resources as she freely shared both with her family, friends and anyone in need. Her laughter was contagious, along with her zest for life and passionate love affair with ice cream and chocolate. Her radiant smile, loving presence and personalized prayers will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
