Richard passed away Thursday at Lowrie Place following an illness.
He was the son of Gesualdo "John" and Onorino "Nora" Alesii DeMatteis.
Rich was a steelworker who retired from the Butler Works of Armco Steel. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of All Saints Parish, Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.
He is survived by one sister, Angela DeMatteis, of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and one sister.
Private funeral services were conducted, and burial took place in Calvary Cemetery.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 429 Center Ave., Butler.
