On May 18, 1950 Arthur was united in marriage to Lorene Marie Lambert in Irondale Missouri. They were blessed with four children: Charles Buford and wife, Jeralyn of Roselle, Missouri, Harold and wife Sandy of Belleview, Missouri, Linda Lambert and husband, John of Middle Brook, Missouri, and Brenda Sohn and husband, Clifton of Belleview, Missouri. Arthur is also survived by five grandchildren: Dereck, Jeania, Ashley, Cammie, and Amanda, and ten great grandchildren. His sister Audrey "Chick" Hampton of Arnold, Missouri survives as do his brother-in-law, Loyal, and sisters-in-law, Faye and Reba Lambert, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Arthur was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lorene, and his sister, Roberta Buford.

Arthur attended Monterey School and finished 8th grade before going to work on the family farm. He went to St. Louis and worked at a furniture company and then helped make street cars. In 1946 Arthur started working part time for the state highway department alongside his Dad. When he wasn't working for the highway department, he worked on the family farm. In 1987 he retired after working over 40 years for the State of Missouri.

Arthur enjoyed working on the farm raising cattle and pigs. He also enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing. Arthur and Lorene were both hard workers and worked hard all their lives. They taught this work ethic to their children.

In 2011 Arthur had kidney failure. He moved to Belleview to live with Brenda and Clifton. He started dialysis where he made many friends and became known as "Art". At this stage in life, Art enjoyed family, working puzzles, talking about old times, and watching the grandkids play. He also liked to watch wildlife. He became a Christian in 1945.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. from Bryson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Nash and Brother Gary Nash officiating. Visitation was on Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Interment was in the Chapman Cemetery. The family prefers memorials to Chapman Cemetery in lieu of flowers and plants.
