He was born April 23, 1864, son of George and Sophia Lutz in the town of Melrose. His entire life has been spent in this community.
He married Matilda Busse on November 9, 1892. They made their home in Melrose and Andrew opened a hardware and general store. Poor health forced him to retire a few years ago. The store has since been run by his sons.

Andrew was a member of I.O.O.F. lodge and the M.W.A. lodge of Melrose. He served as president, clerk, trustee and supervisor for the village of Melrose.
He is survived by his wife and nine children. Matilda, Edgar, Lillian, Roy, Charles , Francis and Louis Lutz, Marie Tarrell and Dorothy Alberts; one brother , Louis Lutz and two sisters, Carrie Lutz and Ella Scheppke and four grandchildren.
