Mrs. Shupe was a homemaker and a member of Elk Spur Baptist Church. She loved growing a large garden and sharing her produce with family and friends. Mrs. Shupe enjoyed cooking, especially for large crowds, and was known for her fried chicken and potato salad. She had a generous heart and was a terrific hostess. Mrs. Shupe was an avid fisherman and enjoyed feeding the local deer and birds.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Shupe; sisters, Irene Vannoy and Alene Vannoy; brothers, Burt Brown, Lonnie Brown, and Billie Brown.
Survivors include: her daughters, Bonnie Royal of Elkin, Cathy Moffett of North Wilkesboro, Robin McGrady; and Mary Foster and her husband Larry of Traphill; sons, Bobby McGrady and his wife Debbie of Mulberry, Johnny McGrady and his wife Debbie of Traphill, and Ricky McGrady and his wife Yang Fang of Tuscaloosa, AL; brother, Leroy Brown and his wife Mary of Sparta; sisters, Dorthy Edwards and her husband Coy of Sparta, Shirley Wall and her husband Ronald of Sparta, Kay Osborne and her husband Mack of Glade Valley, Mary Waddell of Jonesville, and Louise Royal and her husband Don Ray of Traphill; eleven grandchildren, one step-grandchild and seven great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted Sunday, February 27, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Crestwood Memorial Gardens with Rev. Larry Andrews officiating. Mrs. Shupe will lie-in-state Saturday afternoon from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
