Son of William Franklin "Billy" Allen and Margaret Jane "Polly" Johnston Allen. Brother of Jane Elizabeth Allen Smith, Joseph F. Allen, and Robert Calhoun Allen.

Obituary from Tuscaloosa News, Friday, June 17, 1949:


"James Frank Allen, 63, of 1110 16th Street, died Thursday afternoon at Druid City Hospital. He was a native of Greensboro in Hale County.
Surviving are his widow; two sons, James and Thomas Borden Allen of Tuscaloosa; two daughters, Mrs. Cranfield Matthews, Tuscaloosa; Mrs. Edward Pritchett, Cottondale; three grandchildren; a brother, Robert, Coker; and a sister, Mrs. Betty Smith, Tuscaloosa.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. saturday from the Five Mile Church at Akron with burial in the church cemetery by Jones and Spigener.
Active pallbearers will be Troy Smith, Dewey Smith, Edward and Tommy Allen, Clyde and Cores Wyatt."
