Marie D. Terry, 74, of Auburn, KS, died Friday, February 18, 2022 at Stormont Vail hospital surrounded by her loving husband and family.
Marie was born on April 4, 1947 in Beloit, KS to Doyle P. and Lila (Taylor) Albert. She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by a brother, Leon (Vicki) Albert. She is also survived by her children
She graduated from Glen Elder High School and married her high school sweetheart Ronald D. Terry on September 12, 1965. In their fifty seven years together, they cultivated a circle of amazing friends and family.
Prior to retirement, they lived in Glen Elder, KS across from Lake Waconda. Marie was known for her sweet smile, huge heart, and sense of humor. Her greatest joy were her children and grandchildren, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and anyone fortunate enough to be her friend. She lived her life for those inside her circle and protected them fiercely from anyone outside of it. She loved animals, tended her flower and vegetable garden, and was ready to go fishing at a moment' s notice.
In 2001, Ron and Marie moved near to Topeka to be closer to family and grandchildren. She enjoyed tending horses and watching sporting events. She was always looking for plane tickets to Ohio to see her daughter' s family and would have hitchhiked if it meant getting there sooner. Whether it was a sporting event, cheering competition, wheat harvest, racing cars, camping, or chasing kids and grandkids; Ron and Marie were never far apart. And with Marie at the helm, there was never a fear of starvation!
Words can' t capture the essence of who she was and will always be. When you think of her, remember her kindness, her smile, and the way she showed how to love unconditionally and without abandon.
There will be a celebration of life with friends and family coming in the spring in Glen Elder, Kansas.
