On Thursday, February 10, 2022, George Soto passed away at his home, surrounded by his family, after a fierce battle with cancer. Like most things he faced in life, George remained strong and courageous, finding strength from spending as much time as he could with his family and loved ones. George Soto was his son's best friend, his daughter's hero and to his five grandchildren he was their beloved Papo.

George was the second child of nine born to Antonio and Mirta Soto on September 9, 1959. He grew up in the Houston area and always enjoyed being with his family. During his school-age years, George developed a passion for music. When he was in the seventh grade, he performed his first talent show as the drummer for a small band — they played the song "LaBamba." A self-taught artist, he also later learned to play guitar, bass, and piano. He loved music and found so much joy in sharing his talents with others, even playing in bands as an adult, and later sitting with his grandchildren and teaching them what he knew.

George married Virginia, his "babe," on September 29, 1979. They were blessed with two beautiful children George, Jr. and Tammy. George and his son would often attend concerts seeing bands like Journey, Aerosmith and Rush. And watching his daughter Tammy play basketball brought him so much joy! George had a love affair with all thing's chocolate—chocolate milk, chocolate ice cream, Oreos & 3 Musketeers.

Left to cherish his memories is son George Soto, Jr., wife Nikki and their children: Julia, Kaleb, Grace, and Wyatt; daughter Tammy Peralta, husband Obed and their daughter Julanie; mother Mirta; brother Antonio; sister, Yolanda & husband Joel Navarrete; brother, Sergio & wife Elena Soto; brother, Gerardo Martin "Mighty" & wife Alicia Soto; sister, Diana & husband Vicente Ramirez; sister, Gloria & husband Juan Carranza; sister, Mirna & husband Rafael Esquivel; sister, Mary & husband Julio Alberto; and many nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years Virginia, Father Antonio Ramon.

Our lives are forever better for knowing and loving him, and although his presence will be missed this side of heaven our hope remains in seeing him again.
