DEATH OF DR, T. A. AMOS.
After an illness of only a few days of pneumonia the death occurred early Thursday morning, March 25, of Thomas A, Amos, M.D., at his home on Andrew Street, Exeter, in his 55th year.
He was born in McGillivray Township Middlesex County, in 1860, and spent his early years there, reaching school for some time. He took his medical course in Trinity College, Toronto, graduating in 1887, and afterwards took a finishing course in Glasgow, Edinburgh and London.
On returning to Canada he commenced the practice of medicine in Crediton, two or three years later coming to Exeter where he continued for 20 years. He then practised for two years in Raymond, Alta., and two years in Burford, Ont,, returning to Exeter two years ago last November.
The doctor always had a warm place in his heart for Exeter and was pleased to return to town, and many of his former patients and friends gave him a hearty welcome back.
As a physician and surgeon the deceased ranked among the head of his profession, He was particularly skillful la surgery and the familiar name of Dr. Amos will long live in many a household.
Deceased was twice married, his first wife being Laura Manning, daughter of Rev. W. J. Manning of Almonte and the second Minnie Sinclair of Bowmanville. The latter
survives together with one daughter, Mrs Ewing of Taber, Alta,, and one son W. J. of the Bank of Toronto at Stayner, Ont. Four brothers of McGillivray, a sister in Wetaskiwin, Alta., and a sister in London, also survive The relatives have the sympathy of their many friends in their bereavement.
The doctor was a life-long Presbyterian, a member of Caven church; and in politics a Liberal. He was a member of Exeter Masonic Lodge, The Independent Foresters and the Chosen Friends.
The funeral took place on Monday afternoon the services on behalf of the church being performed by Rev. Sharp pastor of Cavan church, and on behalf of the Masonic Order by
the brethren of Lebanon Forest Lodge, with Rev. D, W. Collins as Worshipful Master. Interment was made in Exeter cemetery.
The floral tributes were very many and very beautiful.
Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mrs. Ewing of Taber, Mr. W J Amos of Stayner, Miss Harrison of Buffalo, Mr A L Vanstone of Brantford, Mr.J. J Tilly who had been spending some weeks in Ashville, N.C., Mrs. Trebilcock of Bowmanville, Rev. W.
M. Martin of London

On Thursday of last week Dr. Thomas A. Amos passed away at his home on Andrew street following a short illness of pneumonia. The deceased was in his 55th year. He afterwards went to Great Britain taking a course et Glasgow, Edinburgh and London. For two years he practised at Crediton and then came to Exeter succeeding Dr. Cowan. For twenty years he practised here and about six years ago went west practising at Raymond, Alta., where he remained two years. Later he moved to Burford and two years ago returned to Exeter and has conducted a practice here. The deceased was twice married, his first wife being Laura Manning daughter of Rev. W.J. Manning, of Almonte, to whom were born one daughter, Mrs. Ewing, of Tabor, Alta., and one son Will J. of Stayner. Later he married Minnie Sinclair of Bowmanville, who survives him. He is also survived by four brothers in McGillivray; 1 sister in Weinsk'win and one sister in London. The deceased was a member of the Masonic order under whose auspices the funeral services were held. he was a member of the Independent Oder of Foresters and the Chosen Friends. In religion the deceased was a Presbyterian and in politics a Liberal. The Dr. was kind and sympathetic and by his kindly manner won his way into the hearts of his patients and many friends. The many beautiful floral tokens bespeak his wide friendship and sympathy for the bereaved. Rev. Mr. Sharp, Rev. W.M. Martin of London, and Rev. Mr. McMaster assisted in the funeral services which were held on Monday afternoon interment in Exeter cemetery.
