Clemence J. "Clem" Boyer, 87, of Maple Shade Village, Cranberry Township, died at 1:47 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2007, in Country Acres Personal Care Home, Titusville.
Born Feb. 21, 1920, in Salem, Clarion County, he was the son of Clem and Phoebe Whitling Boyer. Mr. Boyer attended public schools in the Rockland and Cranberry areas.
He owned and operated several gas stations, Boyer Trailer Sales, Clemar Crafts, as well as the first ice cream tasty freeze in the area. He also drove school bus for the Cranberry Area School District for 30 years.
Mr. Boyer and his wife spent many winter months in Florida where they enjoyed fishing at Lake Marian. They would then entertain friends and family at a fish fry in Maple Shade with the fish that they had caught in Florida. Mr. Boyer had many friends in both Pennsylvania and Florida and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was married in Emlenton June 28, 1947, to Marian Ritchey, who preceded him in death Feb. 16, 2007.
Surviving are a brother-in-law, John "Jack" Ritchey and wife, Rose Marie, of Emlenton, a sister-in-law, Donnabelle Boyer of Franklin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Boyer was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters and their husbands, Ethel and Paul Rumberger, Doris and Emery Lineman and Ada and John Roberts, and a sister, Elsie Boyer; and a brother, Edgar "Bud" Boyer.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Route 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. David Hart, pastor of the Seneca Evangelical Congregational Church, officiating.
Entombment will follow in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens, Cranberry Township, Venango County.
