Anna Leontina Stickle was born June 18, 1914, on the family farm in Ray Township, LaMoure County, North Dakota, the daughter of Gottlieb and Katherine (Bohnet) Stickle. She grew up on the family farm and attended Ray Township School No. 3. She married Julius Madcke on March 20, 1943, in Jamestown. They lived north of Jud, N.D., where they farmed until moving to Edgeley in 1954. She was a homemaker and babysat her grandchildren. She lived at Manor St. Joseph, Edgeley, from 1998 until January 2008 when she moved to St. Rose Care Center. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Edgeley. She enjoyed working in her kitchen.
She is survived by two sons, Alvin (Norma), Edgeley, and Garth (Jan Buck), Pelican Rapids, Minn.; a daughter, Lynda (Ambrose) Dunn, Edgeley; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 13 siblings and a daughter-in-law, Betty Madcke.
