Raymond Eugene "Gene" Ney of Culpeper, Virginia was born September 18, 1950 to Walter Braxton and Velma Jean Ney. He is survived by his son Gregory A. "Greg" Ney (Sabrina), grandchildren, Madison, Nathan, Blake and Jesse Logan, and three sisters, Anne Ney McCord, Bonnie Ney Potts, and Brenda Patricia "Patty" Ney Arthur (Steve). He was predeceased by his parents Walter B. Ney and Velma J. Murrah Ney, his brothers Allan (Stephanie), and Paul (Eileen Olsen), and his niece Hope McCord McFarland (Anne).

He also leaves behind many cousins, one Aunt, numerous friends (many life-long) and nephews, a niece, great nephews, and great nieces. Gene graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design, one of only two students his first year to be invited back for a second year of intense study. Gene was a master craftsman in woodworking. He was an artist who loved photography and furniture building and design. He was a passionate gardener, and he also loved to can and share his bounty with family and friends. He enjoyed his motorcycles and loved driving throughout the plains and the mountains of Virginia.
