On April 4, 1964, he married the love of his life, Diane (Truth) Royko, who also preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Barbara Wagner, Joseph Royko, Christine Byrne, Marian Cheney, Mary Siorek, Frances Berndt, Anna Royko, Frank Royko, John Royko, Anthony Royko, and Andrew Royko.
Andy proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was raised Catholic and was a member of the American Legion. Andy was an an extraordinary storyteller with endless talents and hobbies. He loved repairing motors and was fondly known as "the lawn mower man." He was a brilliant self-taught musician and artist and enjoyed dancing, especially with his wife Diane. In his free time, he enjoyed fixing things, tending to his garden, birdwatching, and watching his favorite cartoons, nature documentaries, and Perry Mason. He was an avid fisherman that had family and neighborhood fish fries. He was always the life of the party at holiday gatherings and loved being surrounded by friends and family. Andy also enjoyed reminiscing and sharing his handmade metal puzzles with his friends at the Village.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 1 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2nd St., Chesterton, IN, with Father Jon Plavcan officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.
