Bonnie Faye (Berryhill) Schlomach, of Wichita Falls, age 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior February 13, 2022.
Bonnie was a wife, mother, school teacher, church choir director, Sunday School teacher, accomplished musician on the piano and organ, general business manager, and rental property manager. Finding it hard to say no to her husband's adventurous spirit, she traveled with him all over the United States as well as the world. She gamely rode motorcycles, camped, traveled in motorhomes, and went along with boating despite her fear of water.
The youngest of eight children, Bonnie was born in Edna, Texas into humble circumstances on July 16, 1932. Though perhaps a bit spoiled as a youngest child, Bonnie's sweet and loving disposition captured the heart of her husband of over 66 years while she served as church secretary for her future father-in-law.
As a teacher, Bonnie helped put her husband through medical school in anticipation of them becoming foreign Southern Baptist missionaries. Plans changed so that later, she sometimes assisted in her husband's clinic. Bonnie served as a piano and organ musician and choir director at the First Baptist Church in Archer City, Texas. She also played for school musical productions, weddings, and funerals.
In business with her husband as a landlord, Bonnie sometimes applied her special brand of tough love, making a difference in renters' lives, counseling and holding them accountable. Her Christian faith played a fundamental role in her life, and it showed.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. She is survived by her husband, Richard, Wichita Falls; three sons, Carlton and wife, Lisa, Haslet, TX, Byron and wife, Brenda, Piedmont, OK, and Clayton and wife, Wendy, Alvord, TX; eight grandchildren, Benjamin Schlomach and wife Katy, New Braunfels, TX, Lauren Kennedy and husband Mathew, Decatur, Texas, Kelley Schlomach, Fort Worth, Erin Schlomach, College Station, TX, Stuart Schlomach, Phoenix, AZ, Andrew Schlomach, Oklahoma City, Caleb Schlomach, Alvord, TX, and Corey Faye Schlomach, Fort Worth; and three great grandchildren.
The family thanks the staff of Arbor House for months of love and attentiveness as well as the staff of Hospice + for the same at the end.
