Barbara Ann Gotts, 85, of Monroe, MI, formerly of Flat Rock, IL, passed away on February 10, 2022. She was born December 28, 1936, in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Emory Everett & Portia Loraine (Ulyssess) Taylor. She grew up in Michigan and was a 1954 graduate of Howell High School in Howell, MI. At the age of 19, Barbara got married and started a family. Much of this season of life found her sowing into her six children, and she enjoyed planning fun adventures with them, the memories from which they will cherish for as long as they live. In addition to their mother's love, they were the beneficiaries of this dear woman's cooking. Her kitchen was often filled with the savory aroma of her famous cheese bread, and her fudge was so delectable that it won the blue ribbon at Michigan State Fair!

Anyone who knew Barbara could speak to her God-given intelligence. She put it to use when she decided to further her education at institutions like Jackson College, Eastern Michigan University, Wayne County Community College, Eastern Illinois University, Vincennes University, and Lincoln Trail College. All in all, she ended up with a couple of bachelor's degrees and was mere credits away from a couple more! Her love of education paired well with her passion for reading. When she didn't have a textbook in hand, chances were that she'd be wholly consumed by an Agatha Christie novel or comparable mysteries. She also enjoyed gardening and was known to plant just about anything that could grow in a flowerbed.

We who are left behind to mourn her passing will never forget her warm, calm demeanor and are grateful for the seeds of love she sowed in our hearts.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 18th, at the Ford-Montgomery Cemetery, rural Flat Rock, IL, with Pastor Bob Miner officiating.
