Josephine Marie Sabatine passed away at Gracedale Nursing Home in Nazareth, PA on February 13, 2022. She was 100 years old and was a resident there since September 2020. Born in Stroudsburg, PA on October 21,1921, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Makosky. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, retired Army Lt. Colonel Matthew Sabatine. They were married for 45 years until his death in 1987. She was also proceeded in death by her mother Mary, father Joseph, stepfather Earl (Bennie) Arnold, brother Robert and his wife Mert, daughter in-law Kate, grandchildren Adam and Daniel Sabatine and son-in-law Daniel Fiorot.

Josie is survived by her five children, Dr. Matthew Jr. and former daughter-in- law DJ Sabatine, Kathleen Sabatine, Beverly Robinson and husband Ian, David Sabatine and Joann and husband Jack Jaeger.

Josie was an ardent lover of music of all genres but particularly music of the 1940s. In her teens she was an up-and-coming dancer/singer performing in the Poconos, until she married and became a mother. She was a graduate of Stroudsburg high school and lived in Stroudsburg until she married and moved to Roseto, PA where she resided with her husband and five children.

In her free time, she was a member of the American Legion auxiliary, Young at Heart, Roseto Seniors and was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel church. She loved playing Bingo, reading, swimming, going on casino day trips, attending plays and concerts, and travelling with her husband and many friends. She balanced raising a big family with working at various garment mills in the area. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister and friend who cherished the time spent with her immediate and extended family of brothers and sisters in-laws and her many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her kitchen table was a source of laughter and provided a place for all to gather and enjoy life together.

Other survivors include her ten grandchildren, Matti and Jay Sabatine, Miklelin Martino, Alan Robinson and wife Kristy, Mark Robinson and wife Lisa, Jill Tyminski and husband Todd, Allison and Sara Fiorot, Matthew Sabatine, and Christian Jaeger. Also, great grandchildren Michael and Anthony Martino, Brooke and Drew Robinson, Zoey and Raya Robinson, Madison, Damian and Cameron Tyminski and Adelynn Sabatine The family is grateful to the staffs of both the Easton Home and Gracedale for their dedication to providing loving elder care.

There will be a private family viewing followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 11:00AM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church Third & Garibaldi Avenues Roseto. Josephine will be laid to rest beside her beloved Matthew in the Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, Roseto. Services are under the care of the Fiore Funeral Home, 230 Market Street, Bangor.
