Sir Henry Channon was a British conservative politician, better known for his biting wit and tell-all diaries. He was known more familiarly as Chips, a nickname he acquired while attending Christ Church, Oxford. Channon was born in Chicago, into a wealthy Anglo-American family, but was naturalized a British subject on July 11, 1933, only a few days prior to marrying Lady Honor Guiness, daughter of the 2nd Earl of Iveagh, on July 14, 1933.

His burial in this cemetery is recorded in Channon's first full-length biography, Lord of Hosts: The Life of Sir Henry "Chips" Channon, by Richard Carreño (2016), which states (page 273), "According to his wishes, Chips was buried in the St. Nicholas' churchyard..." located adjacent to his estate, Kelvedon Hall.
