Blanche M. Kersting, 93, of Kingsford, passed away Monday, November 2, 2020 at Evergreen Assisted Living in Kingsford.

She was born January 4, 1927 in Clearwater, NE, daughter of the late Clem and Catherine (Kurtenbach) Beierman. She married Myron Kersting on Feb. 10, 1948, in Dakota City, NE. Blanche worked for the Department of the Air Force in both Iowa and Michigan, for the Department of the Army in Okinawa for three years and at the Army Recruiting Company Headquarters for nine years, retiring from there in 1991. From 1968 to 1978 she worked as a secretary at the 700 bed William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI. Blanche was a member of St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford where she served as both a lector and Eucharistic Minister. She was an avid seamstress most of her life and a long time volunteer at Freeman's Nursing Home.

Blanche is survived by two sons, James Kersting of Kingsford, MI, and Gary (Teresa) Kersting of Boyne City, MI; a stepdaughter, Joanne Baker of Sioux City, IA; six grandchildren, Laura Kersting and Steve (Leah) Kersting of Gaylord, MI, James, Mikayla and Kevin Kersting of Boyne City, MI, and Emily (Gideon) Ladd of Colorado Springs, CO; and four great-grandchildren, Gideon and Levi Ladd of Colorado Springs, Co and Danielle and Declan Kersting of Gaylord, MI.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Myron, in 2005; her parents, Clem and Catherine Beierman of Osmond, NE; two brothers, Harold (Bernice) Beierman of Albion, NE and Vernie Beierman of Oakland, NE; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Elizabeth Kersting of Sioux City, IA; an infant son, Terry Lynn Kersting; also nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 6, 2020 from 10:00 to 11:30 am at the Erickson-Rochon Nash Funeral Home. A funeral mass will follow at 12:00 noon at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Michael Woempner will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.

Burial will be in Dickinson County Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Queen of Peace Church or St. Jude Children's Hospital.

A special thank you to Dr. John Loewen for his kind and compassionate care since 1979. She considered him not only her doctor but her friend. Also, a thank you to her special "angels," Lilly Kehoe and Jane Moroni for their special friendship and care.
