CARRIER MILLS -- Ikie J. Besheres, 90, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, in Harrisburg, surrounded by those he loved.

He was born Sept. 12, 1927, in Cass, Indiana, to Ike and Hazel Goodman Besheres. He married Irma J. Barrett on Nov. 16, 1946.

Ikie retired from Peabody Will Scarlet Coal Corp. in Stonefort.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Carrier Mills, Masonic Lodge of Dugger, Indiana, and United Mine Workers of America.

Survivors include his wife, Irma; son and daughter-in-law, Vincent and Carolyn Besheres of Carrier Mills; two daughters and sons-in-laws, Amy and David Pankey of Carrier Mills and Valerie and Gary Simpson of Marion; grandchildren, Adrienne and Shannon Rider, Neal and Krystal Pankey, Kyle and Laura Besheres, Bria Besheres, Rachel and Cody Pauls and Bobby Pauls; and great-grandchildren, Madeline, Ross and Reed Rider, Luke and Evan Pankey, Drew, Harper, Sloane and Blake Besheres, Mabree Pauls and Abby Simpson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald and Dale Besheres; sister, Ruth McCammon; and granddaughter, Natalie Simpson.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, in Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Stan Irvin and the Rev. Keith Bunfill officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

As the preferred choice of remembrance, the family prefers memorials to First United Methodist Church in Carrier Mills.
