Born in Keokuk, on Aug. 17, 1931, to Roy and Ruth Krueger, she was the third of five children in a close-knit family.
She graduated from Carlton College in Minnesota, then attended Yale Graduate Nursing School until eloping. She and her husband, John Acer, moved to Phoenix in 1961. While they had a full and happy life there raising children and spending time with the grandchildren, Marty always looked forward to returning to Keokuk to see extended family and friends every summer and each school reunion.
She is survived by three daughters, Susan Acer of Evanston, Ill., Cathy (Steve) Coluccio of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Julia Acer of Phoenix; three grandchildren, Karina, Mick, and Thomas; brothers–in–law, Donald Acer and Milford Acer, both of Florida; and many dear nephews and nieces and their families. Local survivors include her brother, Henry (Frances) Krueger; and nephew, Dan (Diana) Krueger, and children, all of Keokuk.
Her husband, John, preceded her in death by six months after 57 years together.
Family and friends are invited to attend the informal graveside service at the family plot in Oakland Cemetery (enter from 18th Street) and luncheon following at Keokuk Country Club.
