He was preceded in death by his parents Otis and Mabel Adamson of Des Moines, Iowa, Sister Mary Lou Niemeyer. Brother-in-law Stan Niemeyer, brother-in-law Don Chick of Nebraska and Iowa and Grandson, Benjamin Adamson of Dalton.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Bertha Lou Rann Horne Adamson of Tunnel Hill. Son and daughter-in-law John and Barbara Adamson of Dalton, Ga., daughter, Jeanie Brakebill of Chattanooga, TN, daughter and son-in-law Mary and Jeff Cooper of Cumming, Ga. daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Tommy Hobbs of Signal Mountain, TN, son and daughter-in-law Chris and Bryn Adamson of Athens, Ga. Stepsons Blake Horne and wife Tarah of Tunnel Hill, Mark Horne and wife Tammy of Dalton, Ga. Grandchildren Zack (Anna) Adamson, Shelley (Brad) Downs, Jay Adamson, Elliott and Laura Lee Brakebill, Madeline (Michael) Mooneyhan, Thomas Cooper, Zack and Rachel Hobbs, Owen Honroth, Delia and Ava Adamson, LB and Tyler Horne, Allison and Abby Horne; Four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Gene had a long career in the textile industry in many capacities. Working as an independent sales agent and later owning his own business. He was a member of the Tunnel Hill City Council for over 20 years. He was a member of the Tunnel Hill United Methodist Church, a loving father and grandfather and a friend to many. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. The family would like express their appreciation to Amedisys home health for their loving care of Gene. A memorial service will be held at Tunnel Hill United Methodist Church on Monday, February 19 at 3:00 pm with visitation from 1 until memorial hour officiated by Reverend Jay Tenney.
