Marvin Henry Agan, 93, of rural Newton died on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at his home. Memorials may be directed to the Moose Lodge.

Marvin, the son of Henry and Loto (Harned) Agan, was born on March 23, 1928, in Knoxville. He graduated from Indianola High School in 1945. Before retiring in 1991, he worked for Jasper County as a Motor Grater for 21 years. Marvin was a member of the Moose Lodge since 1974. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, cutting and splitting logs in the timber, and telling jokes. Marvin also loved his ladies at Hy-Vee, breakfast and coffee time with his son and friends, and an occasional Budweiser.

Surviving are his children, Dennis (Sheryl) Agan of Newton, Jeff Agan of Marshalltown, and Allen (Ann) Williams of Newton; grandchildren, Carolyn Bird, Mark (Shawn) Agan, Jamie (Jerry) Anderson, Joseph (Alexia) Agan, Abbie Agan, Michael (Libby) Miller, Clinton (Taylor) Williams, Leif Williams, Jacob Williams, and Joseph Williams; many great-grandchildren; his siblings, Doris Jensen, Georgia Nguyen, and Howard Agan; nieces and nephews; and his very good friends, Robin and Brenda Pearson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Donnette and Loretta; a son, Scott Agan; three sisters, Mildred Trevallee, Opal Veach, and Bonnie in infancy; and a brother, Harry Agan.
