Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in New Iberia for Don Mooney, 68, who passed away on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010 in New Iberia.

Entombment will follow in Holy Family Mausoleum.

Dr. Glenn Cummings will officiate.

Born on Nov. 29, 1941 in Idabel, Oklahoma, Don was a resident of Lydia for most of his life, and worked as a maintenance foreman for Cargill Salt. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he enjoyed fishing, shrimping, and working in his shop.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Barbara Savoie Mooney of Lydia; sons, Lynn Mooney and wife Robin of Loreauville, Todd Mooney and wife Molly of Baton Rouge, Jason Mooney of Pensacola, Florida; daughters, Caprice Cummings and husband Glenn of Louisville, Tennessee, Monique Wilburn and husband Mickey of Richmond, Texas; brother, Billy Joe Mooney of Tuscon, Arizona; seven grandchildren, Laura Mooney, Jessica Mooney, Malachi Mooney, Matthew Mooney, Brooke Cummings, Bradley Cummings, Gracie Wilburn; one great grandchild, Breanna Greene.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison and Bennie Jacobs Mooney; brother, Charles Mooney; sister, Jerri Shanker.

A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 4:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.
