Alfred was employed for 32 years at Bendix Corporation in Green Island and retired in 2000 after 32 years of service. He then was employed as a bus driver for the Shenendehowa School District and retired from there in 2017.
He was a member of the Cohoes Moose lodge and was an avid camper, and enjoyed bowling, fishing and hunting as well.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years Nancy Bradt O'Rourke and his children, Alfred "Louie" O'Rourke Jr. (Jeannie) of Loris, SC, John L. O'Rourke (Kim) of Latham, Donald J. O'Rourke (Rose) of Pleasantdale and Patrick F. O'Rourke of Waterford. He is the brother of Robert Freemantle (Bonnie) of Troy, Muriel Ahrent of Stillwater and the late Shirley, Ella, George, Sally, Leona, Carrie, Marie and Georgianna. He is the proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 am at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte.32), Waterford. Interment will follow at Waterford Rural Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8 pm.
