Helen Lucille Sanders Whitley, 92, of Kannapolis, died Saturday February 5, 2022 at the Hospice House of Union Co. after a period of declining health.

Helen was born March 9, 1929 in Rowan County, one of seven children born to the late Walter M. and Laura McKnight Sanders. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her Husband, Spencer Whitley, her daughter, Lisa A. Whitley, her 2 brothers; Charlie Sanders and an infant brother, and her sisters; Mary Scercy, Ola Mae Cline, Zona Morris and Mattie Kopp.

Helen was a lifelong area resident and longtime member of Charity Baptist Church. In her earlier years, she worked for Cannon Mills as a cloth inspector. After retiring, Helen enjoyed keeping busy in her yard and in her garden as well as watch her favorite gameshows on the Games Show Channel. She loved her family and took care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helen was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son; her two granddaughters; her grandson; her three great-grandchildren and her loving dog companion "Minnie".

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 8 at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove with Rev Trey Palmer officiating.
