She was born in Cochranton Oct. 21, 1918, a daughter of Frank Smith and Ella May Wirt Smith. She married Stanford L. Brown June 15, 1935; he preceded her in death in 1981.
In her early years she helped with the family meat market. She was a licensed practical nurse, having worked at the former Heasters Home, Spencer Hospital, City Hospital and Hillside Home, and retired from the Crawford County Home.
She enjoyed gardening, traveling to Canada and Florida, attending the Valley Senior Center, and spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet K. Bigley of Conneaut Lake; five grandchildren, Daryl J. Adams of Pittsburgh, Bradley J. Adams of Pittsburgh, Bryan K. Adams of Conneaut Lake, Debra Wasson Kaylor of Sandy Lake, and Donald Wasson of Saegertown; two great-grandchildren, Katrina and Nikkolas Adams; and a sister, Hildred Abrams of Sun City, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son, Donald Brown; a daughter, Ella May Brown; two brothers, Donald and Clarence Smith; a sister, Geraldine Ackerman; and a great-granddaughter, Kristen Adams.
Visiting hours are today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at White-Cool Funeral Home, 1405 Main St., Conneautville.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Rachel Johns officiating.
Burial will be in Denny's Cemetery.
