Kenneth "Paw" Helms Sr., 88, of Cramerton, passed away February 4, 2022, at his residence.
A Gaston County native, he was born June 2, 1933, son of the late Willie J.C. Helms and Vernie Helms.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Betty Jean Helms; sister, Dorothy Stone; brothers-in-law, Richard Peche Sr. and Johnny Bowen; and grandson, Chris Wolfe.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving companion of 21 years, Sandra Phillips; children, Debbie and Steve Hawley, Mark and Chrissy Helms, Libby and George Langley, Daniel and Rhonda Helms, Sammy and Hope Helms; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Peche and Donnie Bowen; and his dog, Codie.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday, February 8, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia. A funeral service, officiated by Evangelist George Langley, will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 9, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service. Interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice, P.O. Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia.
