He was an active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church for over 50 years where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, eventually becoming a Fourth Degree Knight.
He is survived by his children, Maricela Medina of Harlingen, Rogelio Rene (Martha) Elizondo of Danbury, TX, Jorge Luis Elizondo (Dean Bourke) of Stafford, TX, Omar Javier Elizondo (Liz Cortez) of Sugar Land, TX, and Carlos Eduardo Elizondo (Mark Dumas) of Washington, DC. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Sergio Medina (Katie Leonard), Adriana Medina (Martin Brinovac), Gabriela Ana Elizondo; great-grandchildren, Hannah Elise Medina, Lucas James Medina, Jameson Blaise Brinovac; his sister Maria Orelia Guajardo, sister-in-law Esther Zamora, numerous nieces and nephews, and other cherished relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 6 from 4:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace with a Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 P.M. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, February 7 departing the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace at 1:30 P.M. for a 2:00 P.M. funeral Mass celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Gustavo Barrera at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Ashland Memorial Park Cemetery in Harlingen with military honors under the auspices of the American Legion Post 205.
