Mr. Burnidge, of 2414 Erie street, North Kansas City, was elected president of the Chamber of Commerce there last January. He was head of the Burnidge Oxygen Distributing company and chairman of the North Kansas City Memorial Hospital board.
Mr. Burnidge left for South Dakota Friday with a brother, M. C. Burnidge of Pittsburg, Kas., and two friends, for what was to have been a 6-day trip. He suffered the heart attack yesterday afternoon and died last night at a hospital in Winner, S.D. His wife, Mrs. Gladys Burnidge of the home, said that Mr. Burnidge had not had any previous heart ailment. The couple returned October 10 from a 2-month trip to Europe.
Mr. Burnidge was born in Leavenworth, Kas., and had lived in Greater Kansas City 26 years. He founded the oxygen distribution company in 1932. He was a member of the board of trustees of Southwest Baptist College at Bolivar, Mo., and formerly served on the North Kansas City school board. Mr. Burnidge taught a men's Sunday school class at the First Baptist church, where he was a member. He also served on the North Kansas City zoning board and was past lieutenant governor of the Missouri-Arkansas district of the Kiwanis Club. Mr. Burnidge was a Mason and a member of the Shrine.
He also leaves a son, A. C. Burnidge of North Kansas City; two daughters, Mrs. Ardis Driskill of Richmond, Mo., and Mrs. Joan Wulfkuhle of Kansas City, Kan.; another brother, S. A. Burnidge of San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Crouse of Littleton, Colo., and Mrs. B. H. Mathis of Wichita; his mother, Mrs. S. A. Burnidge of Littleton; and five grandchildren.
