Mary Frances Lewis was born to Christopher James Lewis and Anna Long on May 24 1860 in Claiborne Co., Tennessee. She had an older sister, Sarah Elizabeth Lewis who was born Oct 2 1858 (married Elijah J. Garner), dying in Mar 20 1931. After Mary was born, Feldon John Lewis came along followed by Katy Lewis, Cynthia Jane Lewis (married James Marion Garner), Lodusca Adaline Lewis and George Irvan Lewis.

She married Samuel Atkins Capps on Dec 25 1879 in Nevada, Missouri and had 10 children with him:
