Carlena Myrle Mecchi

1950 - 2021

Our wife, mother, friend, Carrie Mecchi (Carlena Myrle Marshall) just faced her worst case of F.O.M.O. (Fear Of Missing Out) and blew it: she died. Lest we feel bad, Carrie's life was NOT about "missing out." Born in Burbank, California, in the shadow of the Disney Cartoon Works, she moved with family to Napa which became her lifelong home. Competitive swimming (Napa Sea Hawks) in junior high and high school, a bachelor's degree in English from Sonoma State, a turn toward family, marrying elementary school classmate Arthur Mecchi, and and producing two children, Gabe and Cara, she became the founding president of the Sunrise Montessori School Parents Club, only a Napa Montessori School would take the kids to the Robert Mondavi Winery where they tasted "Cabernet juice".

A midlife return to school, Carrie became a cardiac care nurse at St. Helena Sanitarium before, eventually, health problems shut down that career and that began a long struggle with various health problems which Carrie met with sanguine pragmatism: it is what it is; let's do what we can do. What the mind desires, however, the body sometimes simply cannot fulfill. No matter how ill her love of cooking for the family never stopped. Congestive Heart Failure brought on the final end. Carrie follows her long-time close friend Caroline Crenshaw in succumbing to a long series of chronic illnesses. Perhaps now they are together again, Best Friends Forever.

Carrie is predeceased by her parents, Gene and Jennie Marshall, her favorite Aunt, Grace Marion Day and infant nephew Luke Marshall. She is survived by her husband of fifty years, Arthur Mecchi, children Gabriel Mecchi and Cara Rademacher, granddaughter Quinn Rademacher, siblings Holly Marshall, Scott Marshall, and Chuck Marshall.

Private cremation services will be held for family and burial of ashes in the Tomales Catholic Cemetery, Marin County when Arthur's eventual ashes can be buried with her.
