Jerry was born in Cash and lived most of his life there. He was a retired farmer and enjoyed gardening, fishing, and small-engine repair. Jerry was a member of Stone Ridge Church of Christ.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Homer Raymond Bishop and Wilma Irene Todd Bishop; daughter Coach Jennifer Bishop Jordan; infant son Jerry L. Bishop, and brother Bill Bishop.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Merritt Bishop of the home;
son and daughter-in-law: Micky and Melinda Bishop of Swifton;
3 brothers and sisters-in-law: Homer Junior and Rose Bishop of Cash, Tommy C. and Brenda Bishop of Cave City, and Paul E. and Becky Bishop of Jonesboro; 5 grandchildren: Kaitlyn Bishop, Abbie Bishop, Daelyn Bishop, Lilly Bishop, and Austin Shipman; and 2 great-grandchildren: Maddie Lynn and Rayella Rose.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 7, 2022, at Emerson Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Bishop Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 preceding the funeral service.
For lasting memorials, the family asks that consideration be given to a local military veterans organization to assist local veterans.
