Bernice was born and spent most of her life in San Bernadino, Los Angeles, and San Diego counties in California. In 1912, Bernice very briefly married Harvey Jerome Johnson in Los Angeles. In 1914 in Great Falls, Montana Bernice married Willard Howe Moody. They soon returned to California. Willard worked as an ad salesman for a newspaper. Bernice remained married to him until his death and did not remarry after that. They did not have children.
