With great sadness, the McVeigh family announces the death of Dorothy Sports McVeigh Baugh of Brunswick. Dorothy, who died peacefully on January 27, 2022, was 94. She was born on June 28, 1927, to Linnie Darnella Sports, in Columbia, SC. The widow of Norman S. McVeigh, Jr., and Herman B. Baugh, she was also preceded in death by her beloved brother Nyle T. Sports, Sr. A devoted homemaker, gardener, and divine scratch biscuit maker, Dorothy had an enduring faith in God, and a selfless devotion to family and friends. Among her many passions were music, reading, pets, and country living. Professionally, her relaxed, gracious personality and beautiful smile greeted customers at LaVerne's dress shop, and the King and Prince Hotel gift shop, both of which she managed. She also helped run a family grocery and was a para-pro at Goodyear School.

Dorothy is dearly missed by her three children, Teresa McVeigh (Stephen Looney) of Augusta, GA; Norman Shaw McVeigh, III (Patricia) of Brunswick, GA; and Nyle Anthony McVeigh of Frankfort, KY; grandchildren, Erin Vandre (Jim), and Katie Carter (Cameron); great-grandchildren, Dallin, Olivia and Will Vandre; and Grace, Blake, Lucy and Austin Carter. Arrangements are under the direction of Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home. Planning is underway for a Memorial Service and celebration of Dorothy's long life and legacy.
