RUSSELL, DONALD BURTON - 1918-1991 - Relatives and friends were deeply saddened to learn of the sudden death of Donald B. Russell, 73, of Ninth Street, Moncton, at his residence, on December 22, 1991. Don was born on January 10, 1918, in St. Stephen, NB. He was the son of the late Leverett H. and Jennie (Norton) Russell. Beloved husband for 52 years, of the former Hildegard Holm. Revered father of Mrs. Donna Robbins (Alan) of Plymouth, MA, Mrs. Teri Killam (Richard) of Edmonton, Alberta and D. Christopher Russell (Jean) of Moncton, NB; brother of two sisters, Mrs. Viola Gibson of Calais, Maine, and Mrs. Phyllis Hathaway of Barrie, ON; five brothers, Elwell, Ralph, Gardiner and Harold, all of St. Stephen, and John of Calais, Maine. Grandfather (Pa-Pa) of six grandchildren: Wendy Shubert, Tracy Robbins, Kimberly Knicely, Keith Killam, Richard and Ross Russell; and three great-grandchildren: Christine Knicely, Alicia and Joshua Shubert. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews and their families. He was predeceased by a brother Harmon and half-brother Kenneth. Don was retired from the Dominion Store, where he was Produce Manager for 35 years. He also worked occasionally for The Moncton Men's Press Club. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Church, the Tweedie Lodge 41 F&AM, the Shrine Temple, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 6, and the 31 Air Force Veterans Club Ltd. Don was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force. Funeral Services were held on Thursday, Dec. 26, 1991 at Tuttle Brothers Memorial Chapel, Moncton, with Rev. Paul Cumming officiating. Organist Debbie Murphy player "The Wind Beneath My Wings" and "Spirit of Gentleness". A comforting Memorial Service was held by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 6. Relatives and friends attending were from Plymouth, Massachusetts, Edmonton, Alberta, Maine, St. Stephen, Fredericton, Ontario, Moncton and surrounding areas. Interment will be in the St. Stephen Rural Cemetery, St. Stephen, NB, in the spring.
