Lorraine Copp, 96, of Clarinda, Iowa, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Azria Care Center, Clarinda, Iowa. Graveside memorial services for Lorraine and Jim Copp will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 7, 2022 at Memory Cemetery, New Market, Iowa with Pastor Wade Brandt officiating. Visitation with the family will be held 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Ritchie Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa. Burial will be in the Memory Cemetery, New Market, Iowa with military rites for Jim. Memorials may be directed to Southwest Iowa Humane Society. Memories can be shared with the family at www.ritchiefuneralhome.com. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Clarinda, where we 'Celebrate Life'.

Lorraine Lee Copp was born December 16, 1925 in Taylor County, Iowa near New Market on the family farm, the daughter of Doyle Cooper and Anna (Stewart) Cooper. She grew up in the New Market area attending Lindsay and Frog Valley elementary country schools and graduating from New Market High School. She treasured her New Market families and they became lifelong friends. Following graduation, she went to Chicago and spent a year with her aunt. Lorraine was united in marriage to L.S. Eichelberger and they had three children, John, Christine and Ellen. They later divorced and Lorraine was united in marriage to James Copp on August 16, 1957 at the Methodist Church, Clarinda, Iowa. Their family included Lorraine's children and an adopted son, Charles.

In her early working career, Lorraine worked as a secretary at the POW camp located in Clarinda. She also was a waitress at the Dew Drop Inn, Clarinda. She was also a seamstress and did alterations for customers. In her later years, she was an Avon representative.

Lorraine loved animals and through the years, she had many stray dogs and cats. Her favorite was her dogs and she thoroughly enjoyed having dogs visit while in Azria Care Center. Lorraine was a people person and loved to visit and did not know a stranger. She also enjoyed photography and reading.

Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents, Doyle and Anna Cooper; husband, Jim Copp; sister, Sherry Wiges.

Left to cherish her memory are her children,; many grandchildren; many great grandchildren and several great, great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
