Miriam Elaine Fox, daughter of Clyde and Geneva (Clark) Huffman, was born June 28, 1924 at Bancroft, SD. She attended school at Bancroft and graduated from Bancroft High School in 1942. In 1943 Miriam graduated from Mitchell Business College in Mitchell, SD.
Miriam was united in marriage with Dean Fox of Alexandria, SD on March 4, 1945 at the First Presbyterian Church in Mitchell, SD. Her husband died on February 1, 1996.
At Alexandria she was a member of the United Methodist Church where she held the offices in the church and the United Methodist Women. Miriam was the church organist and sang in the church choir. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and served on the board of the Hanson Independent School District. Miriam was a charter member of the Southernetts Extension Club. For a number of years, she was the assistant librarian at the Alexandria Public Library. In 2006 she moved to Mitchell, SD.
Grateful for having shared her life are her three sons, Richard (Darlene) Fox, Centennial, CO, David (Cheryl) Fox, Sioux Falls, SD, Curtis (Denise) Fox, Alexandria, SD; five grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Darlene Fox, Bloomington, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a granddaughter, Shellynn Fox; her parents; a brother, Harry Huffman and two sisters, Irene Fossum and Susie Halverson.
