Christian was born near Hespeler, Ont. Can, son of Rudolph and Anna Wanner Dettweiler. Please note the spelling differences between Christian's surname and that of his father. Reason for the spelling change is unknown. He married Marion Campbell in 1834. They bought a farm which was known as the old Absalom Snyder farm. It is located near the Wanner Mennonite cemetery. While living there, their first four children were born. Sometime in the 1840's,they moved to East Mitchell Road, Fullarton Township, Perth Co, Ontario, Canada. The land records show that Christian and Marion had bought the farm by 1848 but they probably rented the land before that year. Christian is buried in Saint Marys cemetery. The gravestone shown is actually for three people, Christian, his son Andrew/died May 5, 1901/aged 58 y. and Andrew's son Albert/died September 13,1900/age 23 y. 4 m. 8 d. They are buried in Section A, Row 12.
